About the event
How do you move forward as a folk after a traumatic event, when the trauma continues to endure?
The attacks by the extremist Islamic group ISISÂ in 2014 on the Yezidi population in Sinjar, shocked the entire world ten years ago. Massacres, forced conversions, and women and children sold as (sex) slaves.
The news no longer covers it, but the crimes persist: nearly 3,000 enslaved Yezidi women are still not free. The liberated and survivors are marked for life with deep wounds.
On August 4, 2024, ten years after the attacks on Sinjar, NL Helps Yezidis, in collaboration with partners, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, FAFI, De Balie, and the Yezidi community, is organizing a commemoration of the atrocities and Reflecting on the Past and Looking Ahead: How to Move Forward. Learn more and join the conversation during panel discussions, a film screening, and a Q&A.
